So the whole reason for doing this blog and taking on this 30 day challenge was to help my sister manage her psoriasis symptoms. I am not a health care professional and by no means think that I can heal my sister of her auto immune disease, but after years of reading and doing research of my own I knew there was something to this elimination plan. Well my friends, Heather reported to me today that she has had almost NO itchiness of her skin!! That’s right she has not had to take a Benadryl at all recently. Can I get a boo-yeah! “The patches on my face that have been there for a long time are visibly shrinking. My scalp and feet would itch so bad I would want to rip them off, but I have not had that feeling at all.” Such a huge victory for her.
There is no way of knowing right now what food group, if not more than one was exacerbating her symptoms. That comes at the end of the 30 days, when you slowly reintroduce foods back into your diet. (OR NOT, some of my friends that have done the program, swear they feel so good, they will never go back to the way they ate before.) The reasoning for the 30 days is because it takes that long to get all of the toxins out of your body and to create new habits. However, if and when Heather decides to add a food back into her diet, she should experience symptoms that would alert her to the food group is affecting her negatively.
This past Monday I also attended an event where other women were either graduates or currently doing the 30 days of healthy living program. It was so compelling to hear their own victories of things they were able to eliminate from their lives: migraines, GI issues, weight loss, anxiousness, and even a chronic post nasal drip. The whole program is about an anti-inflammatory diet. It’s amazing how used we get to feeling mediocre. (In my case I was using the crutches of caffeine and sugar to give me energy highs to get over the humps.) Hopefully by reducing the amount of foods that inflame Heathers symptoms then we will help to heal her from the inside out. I know we are on the right track for Heather and that feels so good.
