We Survived! This is supposed to be the hardest week by far. It took me about 3 and Heather about 5 days to totally detox. (by that I mean to stop feeling sluggish and to start feeling good). By Thursday I would say that I was having almost no dips in my energy level. When I drink coffee and eat sweets, I would have these crazy energy spikes and then subsequent crashes. Before I did this program, I felt like I needed those spikes. I couldn’t get through the day without my “energy”, coffee. However, I would crash by 2pm and feel horrible. This week I am so much more balanced, and dare I say calm!
Heather has had some MAJOR moments this week. My mom described her as the most ‘Hangry” she has ever heard her on Thursday, but that next morning she woke up in a sweat. Her body was literally sweating out toxins still. Then she called to tell me on Friday that she was feeling pretty good. Her biggest craving is still Diet Coke! (That stuff is tough to kick) . However in the huge victory category she has only taken her migraine medicine twice this week and she usually takes it 5 days a week!!!! In her words “I am an emotional and bored eater, so stopping eating after 7pm while I watch TV and do homework is a huge change for me.” (She is getting her PHD, no biggie).
And drum roll please…………SHE HAS LOST 5lbs! (Weight loss in not a goal, but certainly a benefit sometimes by changing eating habits)
I had a great week, and then a tough weekend. I traveled this weekend with my older girls and trying to figure out how to pack shakes and snacks was a little bit of a challenge but not impossible. It just required me to think beforehand rather than waiting and grabbing something convenient. I was able to totally stay with the program, although due to some crazy late nights my timing of when I ate was all over the place. I didn’t get a ton of sleep but I did not feel horrible popping out of bed in the morning. When I am drinking coffee or enjoying late night chocolate, I usually wake up with puffy eyes in the morning. Although I was up late and then rising with the sun I was shocked that I had ZERO puffy eyes.
Alright week two, BRING IT ON!
